The road trip

Zakros is about 35 km away from Sitia. To get there, you can take the bus or rent a car. The road to Zakros offers a very interesting view. The alternations of the landscape will not let you get bored at all.

By bus: From the KTEL of Heraklion, you take the bus to Sitia. From Sitia, you can continue to Zakros, by changing buses at the KTEL of Sitia. In case you do not catch the bus of the day, you can also take a taxi that will take you to the village (cost about 70,00 euros). Check the timetable of the Heraklion - Lasithi KTEL

There are hotels and rooms to let that will accommodate you, in (Ano) Zakros, near the springs and the olive groves, or in the coastal Kato Zakros, on the beach.

The two settlements are only 7 km apart.

Delicious traditional Cretan Cuisine, fresh seafood, local meat, dairy, vegetables, wine and fruit, perfectly executed Greek and European dishes, amazing desserts. In the restaurants, taverns and pubs of Zakros, you can taste all of these. Of course, their great taste is due to the local Zakros Olive Oil Politeia extra virgin olive oil!
