Association of Olive-Growing Municipalities of Crete awards the Golden Minoan Olive Tree 2023, to the Cooperative

In July 28^th we had the honor to be awarded by the Association of Olive-Growing Municipalities of Crete (SEDIK with the first prize of the "Golden Minoan Olive Tree" in the competition for the Application of Good Practices in Olive Oil Management, 2023.

Having your work distinguished and awarded by your colleagues and fellow producers, is invaluable and raises a feeling of great responsibility for the quality of your own contribution to the rosary of Crete's centuries-old olive-growing history, since the time of the Minoans.

As the Agricultural Cooperative of Zakros, representing every producer, we give thanks for this honor. We remain committed to the continuous evolution with unity for the best management, of the Historic Good of the Minoan land.

The good practices of olive oil distribution, with an emphasis on business extroversion and exports, the monitoring and utilization of quality, the certification of processes, the effective management of the standardized and bulk product, the offer of specialized work, the interaction with the consumer public and the dissemination of the intangible cultural value of olive cultivation in combination with the environmental impact and the nutritional culture that accompanies olive oil, reinforce the goals of highlighting the value of the product and achieving market expansion. These goals are an integral element of our vision to effectively make our high nutritional value Historic Good, available all over the world.

We also sincerely thank our dear Zakros producer, Stefania Papadaki, who deservedly represented the Agricultural Olive Cooperative of Zakros, at the award ceremony in the beautiful town of Rethymno and received the first prize on our behalf. Here are her honorary words:

GOLDEN MINOAN OLIVE TREE

“As a Zakros native who has been residing in Rethymnon for the last 10 years, I was invited to receive the first "Golden Minoan Olive Tree" award from SEDIK (Association of olive-growing Municipalities of Crete), on behalf of the council of the Agricultural Cooperative of Zakros, awarded for the management of olive oil and the application of good practices thereof.

I express my joy and pride, thanking the president of the Agricultural Cooperative of Zakros for the assignment, giving me the opportunity to participate in an enlightening day about the green gold of the Minoan land of our fathers, at the same time activating the umbilical cord with my village.

Kudos to mr. Kostis Kekeridis and to all the producers/growers who embody the Agricultural Cooperative of Zakros.”
